SF trades Frandsen to Red Sox
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Giants cleared 40-man roster room Friday by trading infielder Kevin Frandsen to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Frandsen had value for his ability to back up at second base, shortstop and third base, but the Giants needed his roster spot more. As many as two non-roster pitchers, Guillermo Mota and Todd Wellemeyer, could make the Opening Day squad.
An emotional Frandsen, who grew up in San Jose rooting for the Giants, expressed appreciation for the opportunity he received from his hometown team, declaring that he realized he lived a dream for many people.

Who would you rather have as GM — Theo vs. Brian? I bet Franny will turn out to be a solid 2b (and role player) for the Sox.
somehow seems fitting, get nothing, open up a spot for Bochy’s man-crush on Velez and get rid of yet another young player
I think Kevin Frandsen needed a change of scenery. The Giants
need to cut others who are not worthy of their so so spring training. I think that Giants should waive Outfielder Fred Lewis
and 1st Baseman Travis Ishikawa. Frandsen will be a good utility
guy for The Red Soxs. I think that Fred Lewis could be a fit for
The Divorce Court Dodgers. Ishikawa is out of options and he
can’t hit major league pitching.
